The philosophy behind the construction
“Verőce is one of the lovely settlements of the Danube bend, where I live and work”, Farkas Bethlen, the mayor of Verőce says. “While standing along the road leading to Katalin puszta (plain) in the Lósi Valley, a little hill covered by woods catches my eye. Staring at the spot, something touches my soul and an idea suddenly comes to life in my mind.
Our beloved nation, small in numbers, has morally sunk very low in respect of honesty, prestige, patriotism and work. So low that one cannot help believe that the sacral path is the only path left for our salvation, our only help out of the situation we are faced with.
There is one thing we can do; we can pray for the rise of our nation! Let’s then build a chapel – named Kárpát-Haza Temploma – where we could at all times gather together to pray for the resurrection of our country!”

The foundation stone of this tiny abode of God was laid with all due ceremony in the presence of a large crowd coming from home and abroad on the first day of last Spring, March 21, 2009. After so many years, love started to build! The construction is coming to an end soon, arranged by the Friar Julian Foundation.
Thanks to all those people worried about our country and ready to act, who – not sparing time and energy – have contributed and contribute with their blessed work or beneficent donations to the implementation of one of the most beautiful tasks in the world. Building a house for God!
The ecumenical chapel will be inaugurated on June 4, 2010 at 2:30 p.m. to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the unfortunate Treaty of Trianon, whereby Hungary lost two-thirds of its territory and population to neighbouring countries. We will warmly welcome the great and the small, the young and the elderly irrespective of where they live in the whole wide world.
Priests/ministers of various denominations and secular people that are committed to serving the survival of Magyars are welcome to come to this lovely sacral place to speak in the future.
The chain of mountains encircling the Carpathian basin, like the crust on a slice of bread, watches over a magical land and people. This tiny abode of God hidden among the trees on the hilltop similarly intends to guard and develop a spirit of solidarity, to help unite those living here. Like leaven, which raises dough almost unnoticed.
Until recently, everyone baked their “daily bread” themselves in their own ovens. Not long ago, wheat carrying the image of Jesus Christ in each grain was called “life”. Just as an oven bakes bread out of wheat, this oven-like chapel in the image of a wheat grain, will too mature and unite souls visiting here, regardless of their denomination.
Simple walls and a vault white as snow are planned to embrace a row of colourful glass windows displaying the uniquely rich ornamental art of our ancestors, the Hungarian conquerors. All this illuminated by the light of the sun reflecting on them. Emese will be shown in the centre, who is believed to have been lifted up to the heavens in her sleep. Legend has it that she was the ancestress of the House of Árpád Kings, which family produced the most saints for Europe and the world during their reign of 400 years.
God Bless the Hungarians!
